Capabilities Statement
A capabilities statement is a resume for your business. You would use this to showcase your company skills to the government or any potential buyer.
A capabilities statement is a concise document of one or two pages. It outlines your company's primary strengths and abilities.
Drafting a Capabilities Statement
Your capabilities statement for federal contracts should have pieces of information from your SAM registration, like your UEI, CAGE, and NAICS codes. It is best practice to send your capabilities statement to others when the registration is active.
The fundamental pieces of information that should be included are your company's basic information like the name, general SAM information, and your company's primary address.
You should include your company's products and services in more detail since included NAICS codes or PSCs are not always the most informative on their own.
It is good practice to include your qualifications, past performance, or other means to show that you are experienced. If you have a company website, you should include that on your business resume as well as a point of contact that they can reach for questions.
When you have all the information, you should design your capabilities statement in such a way that it is readable and eye-catching, but not too flashy that it begins to look ostentatious.
Remember, you only have a limited amount of space, so be sure to stress your experience, set-aside eligibility, and past performance as much as possible.
If you can cater your capabilities statement to the agency you are sending it to, this would be ideal.
