3 Reasons Why FedBizOpps (FBO) is Key for Government Contractors

FBO

What is FedBizOpps (FBO)?

FedBizOpps (FBO)  is the single government point-of-entry for federal government procurement opportunities over $25,000.  In this and future posts, we’ll cover the basics of using FedBizOpps to find both prime and subcontracting opportunities, starting with how to register.  FBO is one of the most valuable sources for properly registered government contractors seeking out new contracts and opportunities.  FBO gives you the ability to search for available solicitations in your business’s industry.

Provides Thousands of Solicitations Every Month

FBO accounts for over a 1/3 of the overall government contracts currently active in the federal marketplace.  In the past month there have been close to 40,000 active federal opportunities posted to FBO.  Businesses that decide to do their diligence and research solicitations that pertain to their North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes will have an advantage over their competition.  FBO allows you  to conduct an advanced search that allows you to search by: posted date, Performance State, Set-Aside Code, Procurement Type, SOL#, Classification code or NAICS code.  Find the contracts that fit your company, make sure you are registered in System for Award Management (SAM) and start bidding.

Increases your Business’s Visibility to Procurement Officers

Every solicitation posted on FBO provides the contact information of a procurement/contracting officer.  This gives a proactive approach to the way vendors can contact agencies with available solicitations.

Vendors are able to add themselves to the Interested Vendors List (IVL) for an opportunity. If the buyer has indicated that reviewing vendors are able to review other interested vendors, vendors can review the list of vendors who have expressed interest in the opportunity. Vendors can request explicit access to view controlled, unclassified packages with explicit access designation. If the vendor’s profile indicates that the vendor is eligible for access to export controlled packages, the system allows the vendor access.

Create Email Bid Notifications

Another great property of FBO is that you can create a bid notification.  FBO allows users to create a custom profile and that will determine which new government solicitations have hit the market.  These bids will be related to your NAICS codes that determine the goods and services your business sells to the government.
