Since 1993 NASA has been generating the SEWP (Solutions for Enterprise-Wide Procurement), a procurement vehicle designed to deliver technical support in the form of hardware such as computers, new servers and now cloud storage for federal agencies and employees. NASA has just announced their new IT procurement this year called SEWP V is posting RFPs at values between $5 and $20 billion.
The contracts will include small business set-asides such as disabled veteran-owned businesses. Some new aspects of SEWP V will include acquiring cellphones and tablets for federal agency and employee use. NASA has made SEWP V open to all businesses that provide IT servers and computer systems. SWEP V is also anticipated to last 5 years and run from May 2014 to April 2019. Businesses that qualify for specific federal set-asides especially disabled veteran owned businesses have a higher chance of winning a SWEPV bid due to their niche criteria.
