Coming in May 2012, the System for Award Management, or SAM for short, will begin being deployed in phases, beginning with the “Entity Management” capability and the EPLS portion of the “Performance Information” capability.
SAM will combine eight separate federal procurement systems into one streamlined and integrated system. The eight websites that will be replaced by SAM are:
- Wage Determination Online
SAM will also incorporate the Catalog for Federal Domestic Assistance website as well.
For vendors, this means they will only need to maintain a single user ID and password to access all of these formerly separate systems, allowing them to fully register to do business with the federal government, self-certify as a small business, and view contracting opportunities at a single location.
Since all contractor data will now be stored in a central location, vendors will no longer need to enter the same information into several websites in order to pursue contracting opportunities.
