SAM.gov is Back Online!

SAM appears to be back online; if you need assistance using the new system or run into problems, call the Contractor Helpline at (877) 252-2700 ext 1.

EDIT – (4:43pm EST)  The site is coming up again but it’s glacier slow and FSD has not yet provided an update announcing the site is back up.  We would recommend waiting a little while longer before you try doing anything critical on the site.

Don’t be surprised if you receive an error message while trying to access the new System for Award Management today.  The site has been down for a few hours now (as of 4:30pm EST) and the Federal Service Desk is reporting that the site is “temporarily unavailable as a result of system maintenance.”  They recommend trying the site again in a few hours.  Wait times for calling the Federal Service Desk are unusually high today due to the launch and unavailability of SAM, so we don’t recommend trying to call them unless it’s absolutely necessary.  For now, it’s probably best to just hang back and check SAM.gov every few hours.

If you need assistance once SAM is back up and active – call the Contractor Helpline at (877) 252-2700 ext 1.  We’ll be checking SAM routinely throughout the evening and will provide updates here as they become available.

  1. Yakutat Tlingit Tribe was registered under the CCR web site. Do we need to register again to have the services that SAM provides? Or, will our old passwords and user names work?

    • Hi Alex, you can call our Contractor Helpline at (877) 252-2700 ext 1 for one-on-one assistance with SAM.

  2. Have previously done business as a civilian contractor but need to renew. Have cage code, DUNN’s number etc. Please advise how to renew my companys status.

    • Hi Barbara, call our Contractor Helpline for information on how the SAM deployment will affect your renewal: (877) 252-2700 ext 1.

    • This is not entirely correct. You will need to set up a new account with SAM with a new username and password. Once you have done this you should be able to migrate your CCR and ORCA over to the new system, which will require your existing CCR login. HOWEVER – we have heard that a lot of users are having trouble with migration at this time (or even with brand new registrations). So if you’re having trouble with that functionality, it may just be due to SAM’s instability. This is to be expected when a new system is rolled out and we’re hoping they iron out the kinks soon. If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to post them here or you can also call our Contractor Helpline at (877) 252-2700 ext 1 for more detailed assistance.

      • I have been trying to submit a grant and SAM has been down all evening, do you know if that will be considered as for as determining a timely submission.

        • According to the Grants.gov FAQ: “If you were already registered with CCR, you don’t need to do anything now. If your record was scheduled to expire between July 16, 2012 and October 15, 2012, CCR/SAM is extending your expiration date by 90 days. You will receive an e-mail notification from CCR when your expiration date is extended. You will then receive standard e-mail reminders to update your record based on this new expiration date. Those future e-mail notifications will come from SAM.” So, if you were already registered in CCR and were about to expire, check your email to determine if your expiration was extended. Otherwise, you will likely need to be registered in SAM in order to submit your grant application. SAM is usually down from afternoon through the evening, so try to access the system earlier in the day. If you need further assistance, please contact our Contractor Helpline – they can look up your record and give you more in-depth information about what you need to do. You may reach them at (877) 252-2700 ext 1.

  3. I have been trying to no avail to get back into SAM after successfully getting my account activated on 7/30. The only phone number provided for assistance is always busy; it says my password is no good so I try to reset it and evidently am not successful. Finally decided maybe I was using wrong login name so had it send that to me and it says the name is 6 numbers that mean nothing to me so I have no confidence whatsoever that I can ever get back in without assistance. Thank you for phone number on this site as it at least wasn’t busy and I was able to leave a message. SOS!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Hi Larry – call our Contractor Helpline if you haven’t already at (877) 252-2700 ext 1. We have reps taking calls right now. You can also use the contact form on the right hand side of our blog; include a number and contact name and what’s going on and one of our reps will be in touch with you asap.

  4. How long is SAM expected to run so slowly? If we are able to get to the homepage, the search times out or it kicks us back to the homepage. Any updates are GREATLY appreciated!

  5. SAM.GOV is not producing any NAICS codes when prompted. I called a week ago and they said that it would be corrected that day. I know my code but it won’t allow me to simply input the information.

When will this be corrected? I have completed the rest of the registration and only need this code but it won’t let me submit without the code.
